At some point, every man has an occasion for which he needs a suit. Just because many men only need one or two suits, however, doesn't mean they should never think about replacing an existing suit. A checked suit with mile-wide lapels from the '70s, for instance, may not make the best statement at an interview.

Most suits come with jackets in two-button or three-button styles, and can either be worn open or closed. Jackets are generally worn closed for more formal occasions, although with a three-button coat, the bottom button is usually left undone. It's important for many men to find suits that are comfortable; unfortunately, men who fit into the big and tall category can have a more difficult time doing this.

Why Big and Tall Suits Are Different
One of the main reasons big and tall men have a difficult time finding suits that fit well is that most suits are made with a standard six inch drop, but big and tall men may require a four or eight inch drop. It's not very often that altered suits actually look as good as they were intended. Additionally, big and tall men may need a wider fit around the torso.
